Ok, here is the natural induction that worked for us.

Out mid-wife was on the scene after the third dose, which was great because when things started happening, they really started happening. The good thing is that this method doesn't work if the baby isn't ready to come. It's more invitation than induction...

This is metric, but you can find measurement conversion calculators online.

I started this process at about 7pm, an hour after dinner. My water broke at 3 am and the baby was born at 5:33. Fat, but we got to the hospital. Another mother who took it a night before didn't make it and had a homebirth.

The cocktail:

30 ml mineral oil
30 ml flavoured schnapps
200 ml whipping cream
Enough Apricot juice (not nectar) to make 1/2 litre

Combine all the ingredients.

The first hour, drink 1/3 of the mixture and take a slow walk for 20 to 30 minutes.

One hour after the first dose, drink the second 1/3rd and have a warm bath for 20 minutes and go to the toilet.

One hour after the second dose, drink the remaining 1/3rd and go to sleep until the contractions wake you up.

ANGELA RESPONDS:

While that sounds really yummy (ha ha!), I am terrified of doing this. I can't imagine being in labor AND having diarrhea!! :(

Thanks for link attached to the contest news today. I had no idea you were expecting your fifth child! I have four and had three sections. My second was a VBAC but he was also my largest at 9 lbs 6 oz. Oh well, once they're out they're wonderful no matter how came. Good luck!!!

Congratulations on the heads down baby! I can’t tell from your posts if you’re having a homebirth with shadow care or what. What was the cause of your c/s and with what child?

ANGELA RESPONDS

We had planned a homebirth. However, now that the excess amniotic fluid has pushed me to high-risk, we’re planning to have Mason at the hospital.

Nobody claims to know the cause of my c-section. Here’s what I wrote about it for my upcoming VBAC book:

While we’ll never know exactly what prevented Max from traveling down the birth canal, we do know that he was not born with a cone head, nor did he have any bruising. When they artificially ruptured my membranes, his head may have gotten wedged against my pelvis in an odd angle instead of floating into it.

Rupturing the membranes may cause the head to not settle into the pelvis at a natural angle, preventing the baby from traveling into the birth canal.

Unfortunately, at that time, I didn’t know you could refuse to have your membranes artificially ruptured. I just stupidly went along with everything they told me they were doing!

and

On thinking back, I think the narcotic is what did it. If I couldn’t even hold my head up, how could I push a baby out? And, it was later explained to me that a baby and a mom work together during the birth. If Max was drugged, too, how could he turn this way and that in response to the pressure from my womb’s contractions? He was probably just as doped up as I was.

Some may think he was just too big for my pelvis. However, he was only a bit more than a lb. heavier than my first baby, and there were no marks, swelling or bruises on his head which would indicate he was being pressed against the pelvis or stuck in the birth canal.
