My own grandson had a similar problem and he is a wondrous 6 year old child today, with no health challenges.

Were you able to visually inspect the umbilical cord and watch the blood pulsating in it (traveling from the placenta to the newborn)? A key piece of information is this: How long did the cord continue to pulsate after the child was born, and how long of a delay was there prior to the clamping of the cord?
