A few years ago, Merck came out with Gardasil, the HPV vaccine. Commercials seemed to be everywhere, making parents feel like they must be GOOD parents and get their daughter vaccinated right away, to prevent her from contracting HPV before she becomes sexually active…so she won’t get the cancer HPV *might* cause someday (emphasis mine). The commercials even stooped to featuring attractive young girls, saying they got the vaccination. We have a teenage daughter and she was at the prime age those commercials targeted. You know how teenage girls think – “Well, if she did it, I should, too!!!”
According to The Journal of the American Medical Association, it appears there are some things the commercials didn’t say:
1. There are more than 100 types of HPV. Fifteen of those can cause cancer. The vaccine only protects against 2 of those 15.
2. Nobody knows the relationship between contracting those 2 types and the occurrence of cancer 20-40 years later.
3. HPV is common, but, in the vast majority of cases, the body’s immune system clears it from the person’s body naturally.
4. In a “few women”, the infection may persist, perhaps someday leading to cancer in some of those “few women.” Nobody knows or can predict which women this will happen to.
5. Annual screening (your well woman checkup) can catch this early.
6. The vaccine was approved in June, 2006…but the phase 3 trials of the vaccine weren’t reported until a year later, in May, 2007. (Hey, FDA, why was this vaccine released on our children before all the data of the trials was in??)
7. More studies were needed but no new results have been released since May, 2007.
8. In, 2006 (remember, a year before the Phase 3 trials were in), the vaccine’s manufacturer “funded educational programs sponsored by professional medical associations in the United States. The article illustrates how the Society of Gynecologic Oncology, the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology, and American College Health Association helped market the vaccine and influenced decisions about vaccine policy with the help of ready-made presentations, slide sets, e-mails, and letters.” If these presentations were like the TV commercials, you can bet the people on the receiving end of this propaganda were not fully informed. The State of Texas even started requiring this vaccine in girls in 2007!
9. Reactions to the vaccine range from mild to severe to the FDA reporting 28 deaths from Gardasil in 2008. You can bet none of those 28 young girls/women would have died of cervical cancer last year!
Remember, the vaccine maker AND the doctors made tons of money from this vaccine! According to the Los Angeles Times, more than 23 million doses were administered through the end of last year. The cost is $375 for a set of 3 shots. Let’s assume a “dose” is one-third of the three-shot set. That’s $2,875,000,000. Yeah, that’s right. Almost 3 BILLION DOLLARS for doctors and the vaccine’s manufacturer. Injecting (what I consider poison) into our children is big business, isn’t it?
ABC News’ Chief Medical Editor Dr. Timothy Johnson, who originally recommended parents to get the vaccine for their daughters, now says, “For the first time in my career, I cannot recommend a vaccine for its intended population — in this case, young girls.”
If your daughter has already received one or two doses, or the full set of Gardasil, read THIS for advice on what to do.
So, what did we do for our daughter? We protected her by not getting the vaccine. I’m smart enough to know that large drug companies and the FDA just consider humans statistics. Like one doctor told me years ago, “Deaths from vaccines are rare but, if it’s your child who dies, statistics are meaningless.”
You’ve heard the term “herd immunity” used in association with vaccines, right? That’s exactly what they consider us. Just one of the herd.
You can bet that every parent of a child harmed or killed by vaccines wishes they could turn back time and refuse to be influenced by the drug companies, the FDA and even their own doctors.
If you want to see if a particular vaccine has killed anybody, simple type the name of the vaccine and the word “deaths” in your favorite search engine.
Will I be allowing anybody to inject the brand spanking new H1N1 / swine flu vaccine into my children?
